About
Truman Books is an independent bookshop and café at 95 Town Street, Farsley, opened in spring 2021 by Amanda Truman, who left a twenty-year career in the travel industry to start it. The company was incorporated in September 2020 and she is its sole director.
It stocks new releases, older titles and children's books alongside gifts, cards and wrapping paper, orders in books for next-day collection, and serves coffee and homemade cake. Beyond the shelves it runs a storytime session, a book club and a Young Readers' Review Panel. In 2026 the Booksellers Association named it one of twenty Bookshop Champions for Independent Bookshop Week, which that year marked twenty years of the campaign.
