House of Pottery is a paint-your-own pottery and wellbeing studio at 65 Bondgate, Otley. Companies House records House of Pottery Limited at that address, with Michelle Marie Jones as its director, appointed in January 2025. Alongside the main ground-floor studio there is a sensory room upstairs for neurodivergent children and adults, a club for teenagers with SEND, and term-time classes for home-educated children. It also runs Beyond 19, a programme with Green Meadows Academy — part of the Wellspring Academy Trust — giving post-16 students with SEND work experience and life-skills training. Those students staff the Beyond 19 Cafe, which serves pizza, toasties and cakes on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes. The studio additionally hosts parties and corporate sessions and supplies Technology Pause boxes to workplaces.

It works on a weigh-and-pay basis: customers bring their own containers, have them weighed empty, fill them from the dispensers and pay for the contents. The range covers dried goods — pulses, pasta, rice, flour, sugar, nuts, dried fruit, cereals, herbs and spices — household refills including washing-up liquid, laundry liquid, fabric softener, shampoo and body wash, and plastic-free items such as bamboo toothbrushes and glass containers. The shop''s own account traces the idea to a grandmother''s refill shop in Urmston, and says its founder gave up work as a university maths tutor to open it. The Otley Chamber listing names Jo Lyons as the owner and records the shop winning Best Newcomer 2020 at the Otley Business Awards.

A paint-your-own pottery studio at 2b Boroughgate in Otley, run by Laura Turner with Jade Brabiner as manager. Visitors choose from hundreds of blank ceramic pieces, paint them in the studio and leave them to be glazed and fired in the on-site kiln. Sessions start at £10 and there is no separate studio fee. Alongside pottery painting it takes baby hand and foot imprints and 3D castings, pet paw prints, birthday parties and craft workshops, and it sells paint-at-home kits. It closes on Mondays and keeps Sundays for parties and private bookings. The studio describes itself as having more than ten years'' experience and reports winning the Otley Business Award three times. It was among the nominees for best place for children and young people at the 2024 Child Friendly Leeds Awards.

An independent delicatessen and grocer at 14 Boroughgate in Otley, which describes itself as an authentic Italian deli. Simon and Becky started in November 2007 with a fruit and vegetable stall on Otley market, trading there and at Yeadon, opened the shop in July 2021 and gave up the market stalls in February 2023 to concentrate on it. Stock runs to fresh produce, store-cupboard goods and speciality items from abroad, with a deli counter making food to order and hampers made up through the year. The shop is owned by Simon and Becky, who also run it day to day and are, in its own words, at the premises "hands on". It opens seven days a week, from 6am on weekdays.

A butcher on Market Place in Otley, trading as Earnest Weegmanns. Its own account dates the shop to 1869, when it was opened by W Weegmann, a German immigrant, and says it passed to the Smithson family in 1969, who hold it still. Pies, sausage rolls and pork pies are made in the shop''s own bakery, alongside black pudding, sausages, burgers and locally sourced cuts. The counter runs from raw meat through to a hot section selling warm pork pies, hot roast sandwiches and prepared dishes such as lasagne, and the pie range extends to a ploughman''s pie of ham, cheese and pickle and a Laird pie of chicken, pork and cranberry. It reports winning Best Burger in Yorkshire and, in earlier years, Best Black Pudding in Yorkshire from the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers Councils.
